The End of Bifold Wallets

Is the end of bifold wallets approaching?

You probably read our recent post about slim wallets. Are you now wondering whether this is the end of traditional bifold wallets?

Don’t worry at all. The landscape of wallets is as divergent as the world is. There is no need for you to change to a minimalistic wallet if you still prefer all the benefits of a larger wallet.

What are bifold wallets?

Bifold wallets compared to slim wallets offer more space inside. There is normally a coin compartment, different places for cards, enough space for lots of cash, bills and other papers. The classical version comes in black and was for a long time THE WALLET for men.

How do I know what I need

I understand that it can be very confusion to figure out what wallet is now best for you. Can you really go for that minimalistic wallet or do you still need a large bifold one?

Honestly, it really depends on you. If you like the idea of a big wallet, having all your things with you then stay with them. If you, however, like the idea of a light wallet, then it could be a good moment for you trying smaller versions.

Where to get a new wallet from

You can simply look it up on the internet and buy it on one of the famous online retailers, like Amazon.

If you opt for a smaller wallet, you could also go to a retail store and actually see the different types available. This is also good to get a proper feeling as you can touch the products and play a bit with them.

If you then decide one a certain product, you can still think about getting it online or offline. It is really up to you.

So this is all for the moment. I hope you are not worried that bifold wallets disappear for the storefronts anymore.

Features

You can see the very specific features like:

Thin: The whole object is way smaller than a normal one. In a former post, I already talked about slimming your wallet and how I actually did it.

Focus on cards: The holder is heavily focused on cards

Missing extras: There is no extra storage, photo area or similar

Design: If you think the design and functionality are reduced on those products, then you are wrong. There are many different pieces available on the market with very nice designs. Also, the functionality is on a very high level.

With one of those wallets, you clearly set a focus on a minimalistic approach.

Let’s have a look at this youtube video that tells us a bit more about the topic:

What to consider?

The first question is whether you are really ready to leave all the clutter behind and just focus on the most important things. If you are, welcome to the club. You will love your new minimalistic lifestyle.

Second, think about the size. Do you need storage space for 4-6 cards or way more? This decision is very important because it will lead you to a different size.

Thirdly, you should check some possible options and probably consider some branded objects where you know that the quality will be high. Secrid, for example, is a leader of small wallets and you should consider their products. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling you to definitively get one of their wallets. I just think it is a good advise to check their products out so you know how a good quality product should look like.

Not 100% sure yet?

You think such wallets could be good for you but you are not 100% sure yet?

I recommend you choose your new wallet and just give it a try. Keep your old large wallet somewhere home as a backup. If your test doesn’t work to your satisfaction, you can always go back to your old one.

So, ready for it? Use the link above and start browsing for your new wallet.

The design aspect of wallets

We all know the famouse saying cloths are making people.

We define us through the actual cloths we are waearing. We give us a certain touch or type of direction. I personally think this is not only true with clothes themselfs but also with the wallet we use.

Imagine this Harley Davidson guy. He looks though, has mussles and drives around with his heavy bike. What kind of wallet do you see on him?

Clearly, this guy caries a chain wallet with himself. The chain further implies his style of rough life. The wallet itself certainly looks a bit worn of. This is, aswell, a very specific marker for his life stlye.

Just to be clear, this style i mean:

You got my point?

Just watch out next time when you see one of those guys.

Another example are business people. They want to impress in a completely different way. They are suposed to look trustworthy. They wear suits and formal clothes.

What kind of wallet do ou see on them?

Of couse a black, simple wallet. Likely to be a classical bifold or trifold wallet. Arranged to perfection, cards, business cards, money, slips in it. All the things you imagine.

This style of wallet helps them underlaying the style of life they want to imply.

Do you see what I mean?

Wallets are important drivers to peoples style!!!

That was all for today 🙂

Slim your wallet

Often I see people walking around with a massively sized wallet. I ask my self is this really needed? Is it comfortable? What do you have in there?

For several years now I use a slim wallet only containing the most important things in it. And I can recommand that approach to all of you out there too.

Look at this great infograph i found:

A quote on wallets

I would like to start this blog with a quote I read some years a go:

One can understand a person by the way he removes his wallet and puts his hand to take out money. Boman Irani

This is so true. The real personality of a friend can be seen by how she or he handles the wallet. So next time you see your friends watch them a bit and try to figure out how the behave with their money holder. Just give it a chance
